I used to watch Only Connect all the time when it was on BBC4. Since it moved to BBC2 though, I rarely seem to catch it.

I loved the way that, when they got some criticism after the first series that the choice of Greek letters to pick questions was a bit 'highbrow', they decided for the second series to change ... to Egyptian hieroglyphs!

haha! - never seen it on beeb 4 unfortunately - but purely from a philosophical point of view (as opposed to easiness on the eye!) the 'only connect' compere rates well with the 'countdown' duo - jeremy paxman's just not in the same league!

I saw Arrival at the cinema today.

A cut above your average sci-fi blockbuster and refreshingly free of whizz-bang 'action' sequences.

"When 12 alien spacecraft enter Earth’s atmosphere and hang sentinel over the planet, workaholic linguistics expert Louise Banks (Adams) is called in by US Army Colonel Weber (Whitaker) to lead government attempts to communicate. Working with scientist Ian Donnelly (Renner), she seeks the answer to one very simple question: what do they want? As the team begin to grasp the complex language of their interstellar guests, they realise they must race against the doomsday clock of growing global paranoia to discover the truth."

I've just seen the new Star Wars film 'Rogue One'. Not bad, actually - most enjoyable Star Wars film since I saw the second one (err ... hang on, 'Part 5' is it now?) as a kid.

A film for our times, rooting for the plucky rebels/terrorists* against the fascistic/paternal* Galactic Empire.

It was a bit weird seeing a cgi'd (young) Peter Cushing though. :?

BBC's documentary on 'Factory Records', so many facs from that whole 'shindig' ?. Wortha a re view. Some classic lines, "People will Know many of the bands I put on television but only I know the 533 bands I refused to put on television, Boom Town Rats...**** Off", (Tony Wilson) I've spent all day listening to Joy Division, followed by 24 Hour Party People. I was trying to find a Christmas present for an ex gogo dancer and Hacienda attender. Got her Peter Hooks book, "How Not to Run a Night Club,"
