Dug out the pride and joy of my collection. Having a new better CD player and having played the newly remastered Tull CD Aqualung and it sounded amazing I thought I'd see whether 1997 sounded better on it. Well it does! Unquestionably my fave live Hawkwind album, the only time it drops below excellent is on "Sonic Attack". Yes I know I'm probably the only person in the world who thinks that it is their best of a mostly fantastic group of live albums.. but I like being different.

Same here, this has to be the absolutely rarest Hawkwind album. I'd love to hear it. It doesn't even seem to be illicitly available on the internet...

At the risk of being myself, and taking a totally different mindset, the idea of this getting reissued on CD is so depressing to me that I need medication to deal with the thought. To me it wouild be like spray-painting "Twisted Sister" on Stonehenge, or having sex with an under-age child. Can there be nothing sacred??
getting this on CD should requre a year's wages some day, and to me the only real solution is to have it pressed on vinyl. That art could use a magnification anyway....
may I point out that these comments come from a man missing several rarities now that I may never own...
"you surely would be satisfied, if you could have it all, but...."

I wouldn't describe this as their best live album but the Ron Tree era is definitely the most under rated (IMHO) as this album shows. If you like the best bits of Distant Horizons then this is well worth a listen. Mind you I can't remember the last time I played it - possibly due a dusting down over the weekend.

I saw them at the York Playhouse on that tour, along with about 20 or 30 other people who had heard about it online (there was precisely no conventional advertising). I remember that Ron copped a massive sulk for the first part of the set because so few people turned up, but then cheered up when it became apparent those who had turned up were making just as much noise anyway.
I think at the time Distant Horizons wasn't out yet. It all sounded really powerful live, but on the album it sounded a bit insipid.
I was vaguely aware that the album became available to passport holders but never quite got around to doing the whole passport holders thing so it passed me by.
It's about the only album don't have. Hell, I've even got the Star Nation album with the popup stonehenge....

^ I've never got a passport either. Nobody ever wants my pic. But when in distress I contact the dr. and he does his best.....(I hear business is booming, a devious route might have to be found now)
it's been a while, hope I'm still good

Well without beating about the bush, or putting too much of a slant on it; indeed without......... If Hawkwind 1997, to give it it's proper title, ain't official canon and the fact that despite many fans asking, it ain't getting reprinted, and as it falls within the the period specified in the trading policy, I would happily make a copy and put it up for download - Dave can you yeah or nay this, cheers

just sticking my beak back in for fun and nothing more, besides good cheer It's DEFINITELY official product......manufactured by Hawk records I think fans should be allowed to have the music myself, you know, especially the tried and true ones anyway..... But the trick to this will be for the provider to simply put some annoying noises and or gaps into the recording I"M KIDDING@!!! Totally
I don't know about all this new product-less tech, but my understanding is that is compressed, and CDR's are NOT regular CDs, IMHO, and have a limited life. Further, that old Metallica battle comes back to mind that true fans want the real deal anyway, so.... I hope you all get your fix myself, but I also kinda want to have something special left in what's left of the CD's I managed to have stashed while I was blown into the streets

Phew, this concept of contact is intriguing and makes it hard to koncentrate, but are you saying you've drudged me up a genuine Spaced Out In London disc, or do you mean my front row seat to demise in a now imposter country where not a single thing isn't LIE?

Ahem. Well... it appears on one of the soulseek channels from time to time, although I can't remember whether it's 156 or 157. (I'm telling you this, so that you'll know what to avoid.)
