I have seen Levitation Rare cd from Castle Communications listed on Ebay for £14.99. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hawkwind-Levitati ... CDs_CDs_GLI am not all that up on these things although I thought Levitation was on the Griffin label and I have never heard of Castle Communications. Rare Hawkwind cds always attract bids and yet there have been none for these which has made me suspicious. Could anyone guide me as to what this cd is please, my gut feeling is telling me they are pirate copies?

Hi lovejoy,
Castle is a well known label. Levitation was originally released on CD by Castle in 1987 (one of the early Hawkwind CD's) and the one on Ebay is a 1999 remaster re-release (released together with Live '79, The Xenon Codex, Space Bandits and Palace Springs). So it's genuine, but not that rare.

Indeed and if you bought the lot it spelt out "HAWKWIND" across the spines of the CDs if you stacked them together.

I think you'll be much better served by the new Atomhenge Levitation release. I had lots of Castle CD's back in the late 80s to early 90s - by Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Amon Duul and Hawkwind. The Castle version of Levitation may well have been rare in its day, for European CDs that were not available in the US, Castle seems to be the label that brought many of these (as imports) to the USA. But today, I don't know of any reason why this particular version of Levitation CD would be exceptional - even if it is rare in terms of limited number of copies made/distributed. Could be wrong though.
