I had the 3cd Levitation boxset from christmas and I've just got to say what an excellent job Atomhenge have done on it. The Lewisham concert is quite spectacularly recorded (and played I should point out). I saw Hawkwind 2 days after the Lewisham gig for the first time (as a spotty 15 year old) and at the time i thought I was seeing a band that had been around forever, looking back at it now I realise a few things:
a. They had only been going for about 10 years at that point
b. It's 31 years since I was there (how can it have been so long)
c. Hawkwind could play so well, I am astounded how long it has taken for this to be released.
d. How many other live recordings must be out there that match the quality of the Lewisham gig?

Mine too! If you want to hear a wildly different interpretation (not better but very different) try to find Coph Nia's version...

Now you come to mention it... Old tw*t alert, lol... surprised I'm still on my feet, eh. Johing aside, I do find that recording a bit strange. I was at one of the Autumn '80 shows [Portsmouth] and have long felt it my worst Hawkind show ever.... yet that 1980 recording seriously sizzles. Oh, well.
