You really don't want to be going anywhere near Kent, it's in the wrong part of the country. this gig is in North staffordshire, not so far away from Liverpool really. I've never been to Liverpool airport but I have a feeling it's in Runcorn Cheshire, I think the easiest way from there is probally to catch a train to Hightown (the nearest train station which is south of Macclesfield it's on route to Kidsgrove ). to get cheap train fares in the U.K. you are better off buying them on the internet in advance.
The festival is at Grange road, Biddulph looks to be no more than a couple of miles from Hightown Station.

Well igore a bit of it that final destination train station isn't called Hightown it's called Congleton (sorry one of those Gormless moments where I was looking at a map and I'd typed that up yesterday...I should've known better I've been up and down that line from Manchester and the midlands a thousand times and today in thought I wondered why I'd never heard of a Hightown station !!! so I double checked) The train station is definately Congleton the train fare from HUnts Cross (the station near to Liverpool John Lennon airport to Congleton is £17.50 which is quite expensive I think.

The Skyfest takes place in Biddulph Country Park on Sunday 12th July.
Capacity will be about 1500 (one thousand five hundred), all outdoor.
The gig is part of the Biddulph Festival, which runs from 27th June until 1st of August, lots to see and do that month.
There is a free concert of other bands in the afternoon, then THE main men on in the evening.
Congleton station (3 miles) is nearest, but Stoke-on-Trent station (9 miles)could be your best bet, then catch the Biddulph bus from Stoke. It might be that a local bus company will operate a shuttle service - not sure yet.
Biddulph town centre is only 1 mile from the Park, easy walking distance, lots of pubs and take-aways etc.
No hotels though, so if you want to stay overnight, plan carefully.

Hi

For anyone who is coming to SkyFest to see Hawkwind there will be free camping on Saturday and Sunday night for valid ticket holders. All you have to do is make a donation to "The Timbersbrook Project" http://timbersbrook.org.uk/ Anyone who wants to camp must phone Gemma on 07806782697 to reserve a pitch and can make the donation on arrival.

Chris

Cheers for the info Chris!

I've got my Skyfest tickets & I was wondering where I was going to camp for the night.....I'll give Gemma a call!!!

I check the Sky Studios website, they're counting down tickets sold, about half gone so far! Seen Hawkwind loads of time but this will be the first outdoors....

"PLANS to sell alcohol at a rock concert have been approved, despite protests from residents living nearby..." (Staffs Sentinel)

http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/ne ... ticle.html

I see they describe HW as a "60's band" which might be technically true but still a bit misleading.

--

HW also get a few lines in a TimesOnline piece about post-Apollo music, commencing with "Hawkwind were the kings of space rock..."

...Fellow protester said: "It is on a Sunday evening when I have got to go to work in the morning and my child has got to go to school, as have lots of other people in this area".....

Hawkwind were on great form in Liverpool last month......I'm looking forward to SKYFEST, it'll be my first OUTDOOR HAWKWIND experience & I hope they play extra loud!!

Anyone else camping over??
