What a superb weekend, great bands, great place, great people, great weather etc. As Hawkfest 2009 committed to during the question time may I suggest that it is held the weekend of 19th/20th/21st of June at the same site which was, to me at least, an excellent site. |

I have to disagree as in this country June is a very rainy month, and the children's school holidays don't start until July. fabulous site though i have to agree. see you in another time and space Peace Bev x |

A weekend in late July would be brilliant for me. I'm committed to a camp in early August each year and really would hate to make a choice between the two events. But Hawkfest 2009 would be really, really wonderful if it happened. fK |

A 2009 fest would be great. A green field site may just be too difficult to organise. I appreciate Kris did a fantastic job and deserves all the praise she is getting but the band is the band and NOT festival organisers. Maybe we should have a 2007 type festival in 2009 to keep the organisation & costs down. Any thoughts? |

I'm a bit baffled Starfighter, how do you mean a greenfield site would be too difficult to organise? What was missing this weekend? Everything worked as far as I could see. Anyway we agree that a 2009 Hawkfest would be great |

Hi, I'm not saying anything was missing. But you are missing the point. A greenfield site is such hard work & all I am suggesting is that a 2007 type festival would be easier to do. I volunteered at the festival and know what it took to organise & Kris did a fantastic job with a lot of hard work by countless other people. Better to have an easier to organise festival than not have one at all I say. |

i'm easy as long as there's a festival but i thought with a one like in 2007 there are to many rules from the site owners to go along with it Peace Bev x |

I'm none too sure of the difference between HF 2007 and the 2008 one, as I only went to the latter. Are you talking about a site with toilets permantly plumbed in, and stuff like that? And hard stands (concrete slabs) for traders? |

Brilliant weekend, well worth the trip to blighty. After Sonic World last week I was gagging for more, and Hawkfest delivered in spades. I wasn't at the '07 bash either, so I don't know what the difference is, but "greenfield" is the traditional festie setting and has been since Woodstock. Having said that, the '06 Gong Uncon was a roaring success, and that was held in the heart of Amsterdam. What ever happened to the idea of holding a miniHawkfest in Amsterdam? The security at the Gong Uncon was credited to none other than "Mr Dibbs and the Hawkwind Crew", so the guys must have some idea of what organising such a thing entails. I'd be very happy if next years Hawkfest "proper" was held in the same place as it was this year, and on the same weekend. If Sonic World is the weekend before that again, then next years hols are already planned |

All the 'fests have had a different feel to them so far & I'm looking forward to the next one already. It must take a lot of effort to keep the improvements coming in, and it's greatly appreciated. If I had a gripe of this year's festie that could be taken forward to next year - and it's a minor point - I'd have to say that I was a little disappointed that we couldn't of had the main stage entrances opened up a little more and a little earlier. The big tent was a good size but it was still a bit jammed for HW & TOSH. We ended up standing just outside the doors for a large part of their sets. |

Hi Graham, Just a note to say the 2007 fest was held at a commercial camp site with permanent sewaged toilets & shower facilities. Many pitches were able to access mains electricity. I guess the biggest downside was the tight curfews on the big top. |

The site was fantastic, everything we needed was there, we are used to roughing it with no amenities so it was luxury for us. All i can say is please don't have hawkfest 2009 on the weekend of 19-21 June as it is summer solstice and don't want to miss the next Hawkfest but we'll be celebrating in Avebury |

I understand what you mean now. However it was admitted that this year's Hawkfest was organised very last minute as the decision to run it wasn't taken until well into the year and as they have committed to 2009 already they can start working on it straight away, or at least when they get back from holidays. If it was up to me I would stay at the same location. This was my first Hawkfest but loads of people who have been to more said this was the best one yet and you have to admit the location was superb. Anyway as long as we have a Hawkfest next year I'll be happy. |
