Thank you to everyone who's posted reviews, comments and pics. Just hope that if there is a Hawkfest 2009 I can get there and enjoy it as much as everyone enjoyed this years event. fK |

this band is called TRAGIC ROUNDABOUT and Phil from Ministry of Loud was laughing and rolling on the floor(literally check the pix on flickr!!) so much he was in pain!!!! a brilliant band with really friendly and cool band members. so glad Dani Speakman 'hooked me up' to their sound, i have listened to their cd about 6 times already!!!! look out for the video of their set coming from the MyChoonz region sometime in the (hopefully) not to distant future |

I agree Tragic were brill ..... an ideal party band ..... and i dont mean that in a small kinda party way .... i mean Fun Festval big party style energy from start to finish .... well done guys Karl |

Another fantastic Hawkfest. Hawkwind were of course excellant, one of their best, same goes for Huw, Tim and TOSH although Tim did suffer from some technical problems. Great to see the Tits of Death again, on the main stage this time. It seems people either love or hate them. Any chance of them playing support at the Astoria this year ? Good to see Omnia Opera again too. Best new bands for me were Nanobots (did I miss them last year) and Uncle Rotter. I wasn't expecting much from Uncle Rotter so they were a pleasant surprise if pleasant is the right word 
Hats off to all involved in organising and running the event - too many names to mention but they know who they are. |

Alllllllllllllllllloooooooooowwwwwwwwwww! Well it was Spirits of the Earths first Hawkfest and we were pround to be there Kie Spirit, Tim Spirit Ciaran Spirit and Junior Spirit all had a wondefull time in fact we're still getting over it now................. |

The best 3 days in my whole life. My first Hawkfest and it won't be the last. Huw were great. Hawkwind superb. Orgone Accumulator, Hassan i Sahba and Who's gonna win the war were just astounding. Lots of other great bands too. Had a long chat with Dave and that was amazing. Thanks to all of you both bandmembers and audience. I felt so safe and felt like I knew everyone. It was just great. A special regard to Dave, Kris, Tim, Sunfish ( you were in Tromso and Sandefjord) and a special thanks to Margaret for all the help I needed to get tickets, info and so on.

Yes a great 3 days, fantastic set by Hawkwind and a great choice of songs. A great set from Huw, highlight was when Dave and Tim joined him for a few numbers, Waiting For Tomorrow, Hurry On Sundown , Moonglum, Rocky Paths and Space Chase were all good, as was his acoustic version of Death Of a Clown. This was followed by a really good set from Tim. Sunday we were treated to Tosh, and Spacehead on the Friday. Some great performances from Syren, and Familiar Looking Strangers, what a brilliant lead guitarist they have got, great set by Tarantism to finish things off Friday night , and enjoyed The Tits Of Death, and Tragic Roundabout and many of the other great bands playing Hawkfest.The Guitar workshop with Dave and Huw was also good. We should all thank Kris and Margaret for putting on such a great event, and now i'm looking forward to Hawkfest 2009. Why not have it in the same place outside Honiton again a great place for a real old school festival. |

What a great weekend.Hawkwind are the ultimate experince, only they could put a festival on like this.Hawkwind's gig was awesome. Seen plenty of the other bands and thought there was a good cross section of music to suit all tastes. The band i wanted to see was Robert Calverts old band The Starfighters i thought their gig was great.I also liked the band that came on after them Familiar Looking Strangers they have some very good tunes, great vocalist and a fine lead guitarist.They were camped very near to us over by The Captains Red Camper Van near the space stage.They treated us near by to a really nice acoustic set on Friday evening all sat around in a circle around their tents just before the Spacehead gig.Three lads from Liverpool and two from Madrid, they come across as a really nice bunch of lads.They also know how to party as well i seen them in the bar having a drink with Jason Stuart and the Tits Of Death in the early hours of Sunday morning they all seemed to be having a good old time. Other bands that i liked were Syren , Tagic Roundabout,Bushplant, and Bruise,and what about The Gin Goblins awesome. |

Well, the Hawkfest (my 4th one) was the mutt's nuts for me. Superb from beginning to end, I caught up with old friends and made some new ones. I saw a post about the food, my fave was the airstream caravan cafe who spit roasted a pig and I got a tremendous pork bap for £3. Yum. Sorry to all you veggies for mentioning that! Hawkwind were better than ever, Who's gonna win the war, Right to Decide, Utopia and Magnu making it for me, but I enjoyed it more because of some of the numbers they DIDN'T play, such as Space Love (is this a joke?), Steppenwolf (loved the original, they play it like karaoke now), ditto Robot, and though it's always nice to hear something older like Alien(I am) like they played last year, it doesn't work that well so quite happy to see that one dropped. So it was a nicely balanced gig, a bit slow to get going but that's always part of it. Blistering lightshow, let down a wee bit by the light levels in the tent but hugely enjoyable. Fave other bands - Omnia Opera were superb and the Nanobots were fun! The Dooberries are worth catching, as were Saturation Point, who had a nice kraut rock/Neu feel to them. Wind of Change get the prize for the newest, most expensive looking kit. Anyway, I have put 123 new pictures of Hawkwind on my website, www.tangledwoof.com. Another Amazing Festival. I already cannot wait until next year. Feel a little guilty as I confess I did not watch too many bands. I just soaked up he wonderful atmosphere, went for walks in the lovely forest, beautiful in the morning mist. Chilled in the sun and looked after my fellow campers, children and dog. AOS3 were stunning as always, and I sat outside the marquee for a bit while Hawkind played. I think that was all the music for me. I had a great time and thanks so much, I hope the Hawkfest continues in this vein for a long time to come. Oh just one thing to mention on the negative side....the rocket / banger whatever it was which someone let off each night in the early hours really upset and frightened my old dog and it took me a long time to get her to calm down afterwards. The second night she actually pooed herself with fright, sorry to bring it up, I'm not a fascist or trying to tell anyone what or what not to do, but if people could just remember the effect of loud fireworks on animals that would cool. |
