Dear Hawkfest attendees,

Please, please, please, pretty please (with cherries on top) post reviews,
photos, youtube clips. Let us poor sods who couldn't go vicariously enjoy the
'fest through your experiences. Or maybe it'll just make me even more
jealous of the lot of you, but dammit I want to see how it was.

Due to grass and lager my memory is playing up again, it's no joke... I can't remember the setlist.

TOSH really pleased me by doing Valium 10 and You'd Better Believe It, also a meaty Brainstorm.

OK, so here's my proper review;

Weather was great. Friendly, helpful marshals, site was small, clean and cozy, even i couldn't get lost. Affordable, good food, and the bars brought some cool relief from the sun, and although the promised "festival ale" didn't materialise, the "Rat" Cider was very drinkable. :)

At first i thought the two stages were too small and would be over crowded, but i was wrong, even when Hawkwind played it wasn't unbearable. A real enjoyable, diverse range of music, favorites for me were "Relentless", a group of youngsters with passion and energy. 8)

Over 30 years since i first saw Hawkwind live and i thought they were good, the dancers got a bit boring (although the girl was gorgeous), nice mixture of songs, played well, although the fact that Dave had to sit down between some songs reminded me that none of us are getting any younger.

Went for a walk on sunday morning through the surrounding lanes, all in shade, so some more relief from that sun, but hadn't realised how high that hill was......took bloody ages to get back up to the site.

To summerise, it was a great weekend. Thanks to everyone involved in the orgnisation, you're all stars.

Heres to the next one, cheers.

Well, our first Hawkfest... (in fact our first festival!!)

Absolutely BRILLIANT!!

Well done everyone on the organisation, all so friendly..

Good location (although the steep turn to get into the site $hagged up the skist on my car...

Great weather (for once as I understand)

Good food and drinks, didn't find the festival ale though...

Notable great sets :-

Hawkwind (probably one of the best I've seen over in 35 years!!

Starfighters

Spacehead

The Freak bruvvers on sunday were so much fun... great bunch of fellers!

And immediately after them on Sunday were a group with a female singer that was wearing white shorts... didn't get the name of the band (was too wasted by then), but they wre good....

Also loved the silent disco on Saturday night, wonder if everone was listening to the same tracks!!! LOL

other great things, : a commitment to Hawkfest 2009

: a statement from the captain that all the old back catalogue will be available on CD from next month (I'm sure that's what he said, but I was half-wasted by then... LOL

Things I didn't enjoy....loos were a bit (well actually well) iffy, at times, and they chose the (less than) ieal moment to unblock/empty them.... mid way into the Hawks set.....but I suppose that's festival life... people should really remember loo roll and not use the paper towels...

Some of the bands were a bit too "wall of noise, but there was alwys the bar to retire to and meet new friends......

Particularly didn't rate Tits Of Death... bunch of screaming banshees with bad attitude, JMHO...

All in all a great weekend, will be there again next year

Thanks again to Margaret, Kris and everyone who made this happen.. You've mad an old man very happy!!

Yet another Hawkfest goes by and for us probably the best of the lot. Great place all be it what a walk back up that hill from Honiton definately needed the bar after that one. Met some great people, fantastic vibe, fantastic weather, great bands like nanobots, siren, spirit of the earth, omni opera etc and of course Hawkwind and Tosh. For me great to here right to decide from the hawks and infinity, valium ten and you'd better beleive it from Tosh. Would be great to have another next year, so lets spur on Margaret and Kris to do it all for us again please . :D
