Really pleased to see Brighton & Hove Albion secure promotion to the premier league.
I grew up in Eastbourne, 30-odd miles from Brighton, and B&HA were my 'local team' back then - Eastbourne didn't have a team that played beyond county level (although these days the amalgamated Eastbourne Borough play at national non-league level). However, Brighton were a perpetually average third division side so this young boy ended up supporting Tottenham (and I'm still not entirely sure why) up in the bright lights of the first division.
Brighton came within a gnat's whisker of relegation from the Football league at the end of the last century. Their ground was sold off and they ground-shared with Gillingham for a while; then they converted a small athletics stadium in Brighton before eventually building a new 'proper' stadium 5 or 6 years ago.
Their only other stint in the top flight (early eighties) lasted one season and they proceeded to plummet back down the divisions (and nearly out). Hopefully they'll do better this time.
And they're managed by an ex-Spurs player too!
Mind you. I'll still be supporting Tottenham next season.
