Independent :

Russian reality show to 'allow' **** and murder as contestants compete for cash prize

Mirror :

Shocking real life Hunger Games revealed as organiser boasts everything from fighting to **** and murder is allowed
https://www.google.com/amp/www.mirror.c ... 464797.amp?

The Sun :

THE REAL LIFE HUNGER GAMES Sick rules for bonkers new Russian reality TV show allow contestants to ‘fight, **** and MURDER each other’
Competitors will be armed with knives and dumped in the Siberian wilderness with bears and wolves for nine months in the hope of winning £1.3million

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thesun ... -show/amp/?

If true, state-sponsored murder and torture, televised and in the open diplomatic forum as "acceptable" behaviour, would certainly mark a shift away from adherence to International codes of conduct established in the interest of global peace.

Even if only "staged" (not real murder, ****, torture, etc.) but nevertheless presenting it as reality would amount to a psychological assault on a population by a government, and therefore grounds for expulsion of any nation sponsoring such terror tactic from membership in the United Nations.

*the outlets above are all on list of tabloid type publication, so it is up to AP and UPI to verify or discredit this story.

Contestants are told IF there is proof of criminality “the police will come and take you away”.

"
In legal terms, this amounts to a statement to the effect that the show's organisers condone **** and murder as long as it is done in the camera's blind spots and with no material witnesses.

Imagine all of the good uses the money wasted on producing this show
could be put to.
It'll be aired on pay tv no doubt.

...no doubt ! .....and ~ I would almost be willing to bet the "contestants" are all violent criminals currently doing hard time. their so-called "release" from relatively cozy prison cells and into the harsh Siberian wilderness to do this show is actually punishment for bad behaviour.

Those that don't get devoured alive by wolves or bears (remember, they only get to carry a knife ~ no guns!) will probably freeze to death when the temp drops to minus forty.

..."and now for a word from our sponsor...."

And now from the country that brings the real-life hunger games, hooliganism to be made a sport for profit :

BTW,

interesting to notice in the OP here^ that the word
R APE is "censored", but the word MURDER is not.

...the Brain Police are falling asleep on the job !!

Edit: ... erm ~ it was censored just a second ago ... (??)
:?

I found this to be relevant here in a broader perspective, raising serious questions about Putin's now 17-year power-grip in Russian government:

April 20 (UPI) -- Russia's Supreme Court outlawed Jehovah's Witnesses on Thursday, putting the Christian denomination that rejects violence in the same category as Islamic State militants.

Link:
 United Press International 20 April

The criminalisation of the faith now labeled by the Russian Supreme Court as "extremist" prohibits 175,000 parishioners from even congregating within Russian territory and forces upon them the difficult choice of either refraining from expression of their beliefs or facing punishment for doing so.

Nothing new here - The former USSR had them outlawed up until the break up.
Pity the government don't outlaw them here !
Bloody nuisance callers ;)

More than just nuisance callers (and I've got a hall just round the corner  ) - I've got a couple of mates (brother & sister) who grew up in a Witness family. Some VERY dodgy stories and they both carry psychological scars - they're both musicians, the brother seems to have coped better than the sister who ended up in a bad situation involving smack. I only really see the brother these days but the last I heard the sister (a mother) was getting clean and beginning to turn her life around.

I caught this on BBC R4 a few weeks back. :)

You shouldn't bash the bishop, BD. Pulling the percy is ok, even tugging the turner...
