I agree with MPC and Jimski, go for a date that does not clash with dates that the bands you want to attract are already booked for other festivals. If the key supporting bands are available, the fans will come. There again, I suspect most fans will come even if its only Hawkwind plus new bands on the scene!

Personally I thought the 2009 Devon Hawkfest was fantastic - is that site not available this year? I live in the North but would welcome a trip to the West country again!

Unfortunately, I think it's probably too late to organise it for this year.

My opinion would be to go for 2013, but let us have the date nice and early.

If so then 'Sod it!' - let's have a party instead.

Sorry i Dont agree .If the Hawks want to play and the other support bands are already booked. Let the new bands come through . Once apon a time there was a band with no name but Group x and we all know what happened next.

Funnily enough, each year we have 400+ bands send us demos hoping to play at Hawkfest. Hawkwind listen to every cd submitted! Many of the bands, who are on the circuit now, played at Hawkfest as unknown bands. We do not have the same bands each year, that is the point of Hawkfest, to give a platform to new talented bands who are struggling to be heard. If those bands then go on to play the space rock circuit.....then we have done what we set out to achieve :-)

I wonder what the bookie's odds are, on this burning question.

"William Hill will endeavour where possible to put odds to any reasonable proposition with which we are approached." - one website's claim.

Bless you!!!
I am willing to risk chicken pox, and you have no idea how much I would love to witness one of these, but sadly I am stranded here, awaiting the space people to find a suitable place to dispose the container.
I can't function in (local) society as it stands, the humidity here alone is a ruination. not to mention every single thing fabricated.
