-it also asks when would be a good time to have hawkfest? perhaps we ought to run a poll or something on here....
-personally don't want it on when Maker(w/e 29th June) , Kozfest(w/end 27th July), A Beautiful Days (w/end 17th August) and Alchemy (w/end 21st September)are on
-I could suggest -weekend starting Friday 3rd August -weekend starting 7th September
-there, thats my favourites, how about everyone else?

There'll also be bods going to Sonic Rock etc. (inc. bands). That takes the w/e of the 15-17th June out. And Onboard the Craft is on 7-8 September, so first 2 w/e's or last in August/first w/e in Sept sounds like the best timing.

Yup, August Bank Holiday weekend, or the next one (first w/e in September) would be about the only ones that are left for me too. Here's hoping !

Hello Folks,
Although September would have been a good choice, unfortunately we cannot do it in September as crucial production crew are not available.
Last 2 weekends in August Hawkwind have other commitments...........
We also have to take into consideration the weekends that the venues are available..
There are only about 10 weekends in summer and over 400 festivals. We are bound to clash with something. However if folks feel strongly about that, then we could always do it next year instead, maybe in spring..
What do you think?

Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My opinion, choose a weekend that suits you and your venue of choice, then let us know when and where it is

I think this year would be good. Spring is still rather nippy for camping! -altho' there are a lot of festies, imo, relatively few of them are of interest to Hawkwind fans, so I reckon it should be good enough just to avoid clashing with a few of the obvious ones like kosmic ken, b.days, sonic rock solstice. I think everyone accepts its impossible to please everyone.
How about first two w/ends in July (w/e of fri 6th July and fri 13th July Or first two w/ends of August (w/e of fri 3rd August and fri 10th August?
-love to see the hawks in the intimate setting of hawkfest this summer.

Well for me Hawkfest is the priority anyway, so as long as it's later than June it's all good with me, especially in Yorkshire!

Any weekend, any location this year. Book it up, and the fans will come. Obviously can't please everybody, but I think the key is as much notice as possible.

I agree that HF is the priority, but it doesn't help if loads of potential other bands are already committed to play at other festies, or indeed if folk on here have already bought the tickets for other events like SRS or Kozfest . . .one of the things that makes the HF so special is the excellent cast of other headliners and supporting bands. Really hoping that something can be worked out - maybe even a bit later in the season than usual (2nd half September) ?

For my twopenneth the decision about where and when should be left entirely to the band, where they say it is and when is when it will be and those that want it will be there, (inc me BTW). My only concern is that time is relatively short. Planning for an event in the summer whilst we're freexing our nuts off in Feb may seem extreme to some but it isn't, we shouldn't be surprised to find a general shortage of available venues/dates/bands/personnel etc. Clearly we don't how far advanced planning is but if as it appears we're still looking for venues then dare I say it is possibly too late now for 2012 and we should have been planning this in 2011 but hey, that's Hawkwind and it's probably one of the reasons we love 'em !

Most weekends would be fine, but there's some obvious ones to avoid because bands and fans are likely to be booked and the demographic is so similar. KKPF, SRS etc. are obvious ones to avoid because of this.
Apart from that - you pays your money, takes your choice. There's always a festival somewhere that'd clash.

Personal choice for me, end of June, 23/24 or 29/30, beginning of July 7/8 would be right for my calendar, I'm busy the rest of summer apart from September and even that looks highly dubious for me... I do have to agree with the comment about the timing on organising it all though, most events have venues and lineups sorted by now, or pretty nearly so.... I hope it gets the go ahead and whatever weekend they pick I hope it's a good one...
