I see they've put "The Elf and the Hawk" on itunes now. To those that don't know otherwise, this is a compilation of Brian Tawn's Hawfan 12 and Alan Davey's Elf EP (also available from the Tawn sometime in the eighties in what I recall as being a double 7" vinyl set in fetching orange sleeve with black print), possibly with a few other tracks thrown in for good measure.

I had both of these at some point though recall a somewhat murky demo quality to it all, though I'm sure of nostalgic value to those (most of us I think) who relied on Brian to periodically feed us info about Hawkwind. I think this had a proper CD release some time in the 90's and has a similar feel to it to the Friends and Relations albums (hawkfan 12 that is).

I wonder if that devalues the CD in my collection...?

Unfortunately I don't think CD's will ever become valuable collector's items in the way some vinyl's became. I seem to remember using a magnifying glass to read the Elf and the Hawk booklet. When the world economy collapses, I recommend growing your own vegetables and hanging up those nice shiny discs to scare the birds..
