Maybe as extra interest we could list all of the versions of each song chosen.

Oh its not my work, its from the Hawkwind Codex. And to answer your question the number do indicate the different/same versions 'L' meaning a live version.

Angels Of Death - Sonic Attack studio version from 1981 for me.

Best live version: The unreleased ECT performance from 1985 with Clive Deamer.

Night Of The Hawks - Live version on the Live Legends VHS/DVD (Nottingham 1990, agree with the above). It sounds great when DB and AD double up on vocals in the chorus and AD's bass really drives the song. HB and SH were great as well...

New ones from me:

Assault & Battery / Golden Void - Palace Springs 1991 live version (blasphemy, I know).
Dream Worker - Live At Reading 1986.
Arrival In Utopia - Original Choose Your Masques version 1982.
Heads - Undisclosed Files Addendum 1995 live version (recorded 1988).

Over to you.

Would have to choose the original studio versions of Assault/Golden Void.
I agree about the live version of Dreamworker. I actually have a version of that with the CYM version mixed through it as well!

Heads would be the Codex version but the Palace Springs version is a close second!

Wouldn't it be great if we could get someone like Atomhenge to release a forum members only compilation with all the favourite tracks/versions voted for by members? Maybe a 2cd (4 would be better) LOL! Just take a poll then fit as many of the most popular onto 2 discs! The forum tshirt design could be used as a cover.

I know I'm only dreaming!!!

Palace Springs undoubtably has the best live versions of Assault&battery and The Golden Void.

Arrival in Utopia.CYM for all the very many twidily bits.

Heads is a winner for Palace Springs as well.

Never really cared for Dreamworker and don't have a fav version.

Silver Machine (He says ,opening up a can of worms) only really works live ,the sonic attack version is sad.The version at Porchester Halls really rocked, and perhaps we might get an offical release soon so that all the people that missed it can hear it
