Ah that's the problem with the Empire. Stalls standing, is what is says on the tin, a standing ticket in the stalls. A flat area with a bar to one side, then a little rasied bit around the sound desk. Always been very cramped when I have seen bands there and rubbish if you are under 5ft 10in. I would gues about 2/3 the size of The Astoria's standing area.
Level 1 and Level 2 are unreserved seating areas over two floors, with their own bars. I've only been upstairs once but there was plenty of room to move about and room to dance around a bit if you didn't want to sit, or stand in front of your seat.
The biggest problem is that they are two seperate areas, so you can't walk up and down between them like you can at every other venue I have been to. There are two seperate queues to get in so make sure you are in the right one.
