-heard it at the Bearded Theory festival, there will be no Hawkfest in 2009, but the good news is they are planning an event for 2010.

-information from Kris, but given to me second-hand, but i have no reason to doubt what I was told.

-info given in good faith!

Bugger! Well, as I've already booked leave for 24-26 July (I'm sure I'm not the only one), does anybody know of another festival for that weekend worth going to? :? :?:

No surprises at all really. I think HQ just had to much on for the year [not compaining at all]. We"ve had 2 lots of Spring dates, The Porchester event, the Xmas shows will be up and coming, the odd festival/private gig inbetween and talk of a Hawkwind Hol. Thats a lotta work for all concerned, in less than 12 months. Maybe for 2010 they could put the Hawkfest for 1st priority, get that sorted and booked. And then fill in, as time and energy levels permit. Oh, and is there another album in the making as well???

I'm not giving up until I see it announced by the band. Last I saw on it was that it was nearly there bar some negotiations. Seemed fairly positive to me.
E-festivals is a good festival seeking site http://www.efestivals.co.uk/
I too have leave booked for this weekend. Will resort to E-Festivals if need be.

Perhaps we ought to hold a Flash Mob type Hawkwind rave somewhere, that weekend. :D

Drink Special Brew + White Lightning, and do a load of Ket and listen to Bring me the Head of Yuri Gagarin through a knackered PA

I spoke to Margaret at the York gig. She said they were not able to find a suitable venue.

I did ask her to get the web site updated!!

We've booked the dates off in July too and are at a loss for something to do.

Maybe we'll just pitch the tent in the garden, bring the stereo outside with a collection of live Hawkwind albums, lock the back door and make like we're at a Hawkfest. :D

I still don't get it though.
Why, when this here site has been updated several times recently has there been no mention of the Hawkfest 'NOT' taking place in 2009.
Or 'taking' place for that matter.

All it would take is a couple of 'official' sentences to let us know either way what's going on.

-I would have to agree with you

-numerous folks on here have asked for an official up-date, who knows if something last minute could still happen?

-it looks very unlikely, but for people holding open days off work because of the last official announcement , then it is a very poor show that Hawkwind can't seem to say anything, even if it is 'we don't lnow' or 'its off'.....anything, really.

-c'mon guys, we're supposed to be family on here, how about an official announcement to tell us what most of us have, unfortunately, had to find out by stealth and hard work.
