I recently had a great vacation over in AZ and obviously a Hawkwind fan near Phoenix has to go and visit the Hoaxlords, doesn't he. Anyway, I drove down the 10 in my rental car and managed to find my way... and about 40 minutes into the rehearsal the cops busted us.
I thought "Oh ****," as I strolled out onto the landing with my hands in view - yes, I know it's important to keep your hands in view over there in USA, if you don't want to digest a lead lunch. But the cop that actually entered the property was cool, and I even carried on videoing the Hawkwind tribute band when the rehearsal resumed.
Afterwards, I interviewed them, and I think you can find the link round about HERE
and they were a good bunch. OK, their bass player snuck off, but obviously he's shaping up to be a Lemmy-type awkward *******! Still, at lest the drummer and the guitarist stuck around, and I even got a few free beers. So there you go, and the Gonzo mag editor even gave us the front page.
And the rest of my time in Arizona was great also. The next time I hear someone speak of the call of the desert, I'll know what they mean.
