Just who, exactly, are these people being refered to as "the western world " ?

A bit too equivocal, is it not ?

I would caution sternly against falling into the sort of "collective-guilt " bulls hit that morons like Roger Waters have been known to pedal.

If one lives in a society that has been misrepresented by covert operatives or power-mongers from within, or its citizens deceived by those who spend constituent's tax dollars undertaking actions which are abhorrent to anyone of social-conscience, then one better sure as hell be calling out names, whether private individuals, money-lobbies, corporate CEOs, politicians, take your choice.

How is directing implication of gross injustice using allegorical phrases any different than racialism ?

the main one's that spring to mind are Britain, US, Germany, France, Russia, Portugal - bearing in mind the difference between imperialism and colonialism if memory serves - i would say a lot of other country's - like Ireland are subservient to imperialist policies é.g the shannon airport 'drop off' to pick up US troops coming to and fro to pursue their evil work and allowing passage of people, some innocent, for punishment in guantanamo bay - and when Joe public protested against this here - they were sentenced to eat porridge and now have a criminal record - that is neither democratic nor right

agreed, Brown Dawn ~ and I will further name names, those operatives within the various government offices of administration, and those money-interests, e.g. industrial-complex conglomerates, which undertook or funded those actions, if I dont list them here they nevertheless will be pointed out in direct citizens-action initiatives.

In light of the recent twist in this thread I want to make clear that in regard to my previous post (above)  I should have explained therein that I am indeed guilty within many a discussion (not recalling specifically, though surely somewhere down these back pages) of having over-generalised my own phrasing to the point of questionable profiling, or more specifically the type of racialism which I just pointed out.

Let it be known to all who contribute here that I always regard and benefit personally from your shared opinions, especially those I debate on principle of faith, philosophical, or ideological ground.

Before I go into describing my latest phase of syncretism, I would like to relate in my own words a story about the late and former Beatle George Harrison.
Most know, I am sure, that he and his second wife and widow, Olivia, were once attacked by an invader in their home.   George, being the gentle and loving soul he is, at first tried to calm and talk to the attacker when first confronted.  While this approach certainly demonstrates courage and resolute faith, ( the man he was facing held a knife)  it did nevertheless in my mind exhibit a certain naïveté, as by not seeing to it that he would be first capable of neutralising any threat in a defencive capacity,  he clearly put his wife and himself in further grave danger.  It was in fact Olivia who took it upon herself to strike the attacker with an household object ~ a lamp, IIRC. Unfortunately this only occurred after George had been seriously and near-fatally wounded by the knife the man was weilding, while her action unquestionably saved both of their lives.

This story illustrates, to me, the line of demarcation, where pacifism ceases to serve any logical or moral purpose.

To veer back on topic,  if in a somewhat roundabout manner,
U.S. president Donald Trump, while having stated his objective of modernising and upgrading his country's nuclear arsenal, just as the Chinese and Russian governments are currently doing, has nonetheless stated an objective to pull out of involvement in foreign affairs, from the standpoint of military intervention.  One example is his statement that he wishes to hold talks with the government of DPRK. Another is his idea that NATO is not necessarily a treaty to which the U.S. should be a signatory; e.g. let the countries of Europe that are within Russia's geographical sphere of military influence shoulder the encumbrance of their own defence against potential expansionist annexations.   While it is true that one cannot necessarily rely on the things any politician says , the new American president has only been in office just a little over a month at this point, so we wait and see if his pledge to draw back from involvement in imperialist-style global-policing and stated promise to deliver American government from the control of the elite establishment (which can be construed to mean the oligarchic power interests) back into the hands of the American people ( I for one am not holding my breath ) is an honest and sincere commitment out of true patriotism or if it was all merely rhetoric used in order to get elected.  Time and action, though not necessarily eventual outcome, will be the judge.

i enjoy your insight Vik - don't be so self conscious! - the world would be a boring place if we all agreed although I think the majority of humans have more in common than not - we all strive for more or less the same things - i remember Harrison getting stabbed which I think induced/accelerated cancer which was a tragedy - i suppose prevention is better than cure as regards society in general and incidents like that (a 90 year old man was killed here recently for a few quid) - how to go about that is the question - most people that do time here continually re-offend so prison without education and all that doesn't seem to work - again I harp on about parenthood - guidance is required from an early age - there are always exceptions of course

no quarter for terrorists

zero tolerance for belligerent and irresponsible nuclear threats backed by clear and present material danger of force

A person does not have to be a top-level government intelligence operative to figure out that KJu is supplying terrorists with nuclear materials and technology, as well as verbally and by virtue fueling terrorists' resolve to commit bold crimes against humanity.

I fear the worst. The U.S.Trump administration has vowed non-nuclear attack on DPRK's military installations if KJu lets go another nuclear explosion.

KJu, in contrast, has threatened a nuclear first-strike on South Korea (the civilian population of Seoul, in fact ) should the U.S. appear ready to strike in any manner whatsoever ...

this shet is getting sticky

Good Luck, Good Friday

trump = terrorist - that nonsense the american big boy soldier spewed out on the news today was something - believing one's own lies is a dangerous game - for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction - newton

Trump is not a terrorist, according to the internationally recognised definition of that word.

If you start calling people terrorists for simply fighting against terrorists , (in lieu of any evidence to support your claim )
then you have unwittingly joined the
propagandists, the likes of Putin, Assad,
Ahmadinejad; [ correction: not Rouhani ] , and Kim Jung un

[Edit] :

Grant you, Trump has - up until this point only engaged in defencive preparations with regard to North Korea's belligerent threats, though I fear that if he is not careful with his words of intention, or in drawing lines in the sand, he could be drawn into an escalating conflict.

My only hope here is that the people around Trump, intelligent generals like Secretry of Defence James Mattis, will be heeded in their recommendations on how to (and how not to) proceed with regard to KJu.
Mattis is known for his level-headed approach ~ which is what is required in instances such as this.

Remember though, we're dealing with a dictator who has issued statements to the effect that even if North Korea launches an unprovoked attack, it will be 'the fault of the United States '(and since KJu seems locked into a cold-war mentality of collective fault, he seems to be suggesting that blame resides with all American citizens as well ~ why else would he threaten to attack a civilian population unless he is a terrorist ?)

Just who exactly is pulling pres Trump's strings.
the same unseen faces who pulled all the previous others?
As usual we do not know. It's all conjecture from hereon in.

Fair point, Smugdruggler ~ I may be erring on the side of hope that Trump is his own man and means well for the world and the American people, we can all only hope that is the case, though cynicism is certainly understandable and justified.

Still, 'invisible strings' aside for the moment, just because an oligarchy exists with tremendous political influence, that does not, in of itself, mean that any action by the current U.S. administration is not solely in the interest of global security.

yeah i'm in agreement with you & liking the thought of him being his own man. Though when it comes down to the nitty gritty, 'The unseen powers that were' more than likely still are (iMO)

i think trump is a terrorist - certainly a warmonger - testing his big missiles in afghanistan - none of his business - russia tried that stuff too against them and failed - the american propaganda machine seem's to be brainwashing people even with half a mind as to their imperialistic tendencies and agenda's - 'unprovoked attack's' - a little naive i feel - let's be honest - why?!
