(There's 25 pics but I've just reposted a couple)

Musicman Stingray Late 70’s – Early 80’s.
Brighton, United Kingdom
4 String, Natural original finish, all maple, all original parts (no foam dampeners), 2 way active pre-ernie ball electronics.
Serial number: B022998
I have owned and used this wonderful bass since 1991 and it has served me flawlessly across all those years. It has been dated by two different specialists and the dates were different(!!): 1979 and 1981 – not that it really matters!
In recent times, I retired this bass from live work and have used a far cheaper Mexican P-bass.
This is a classic bass that has toured around the world with me in my tenure in Hawkwind and has been my ‘go to’ recording bass for all the Hawkwind related releases I have been involved with (and a host of other projects).
The bass has always been strung with 45-105 gauge strings and the action is the lowest I’ve ever had on a bass – to put it simply, it’s the lightest action on any bass I have owned. The neck is totally straight and it plays fast, really fast.
The sound is what you’d expect from a bass of this caliber and it delivers tonally all across the frequency spectrum – from earth rumbling lows to teeth melting zingy highs.
This is a used and loved bass, it has been professionally serviced before any tour or recording venture.
There are marks and dings across the bass but nothing that interferes with the performance or sound.
No offers, £1500.
If you require more info, please contact me.

based on the commentary, I'd guess
Niall must've found something far better
that he'd say farewell to a rugged old 'friend'
like that one!

ah well ~ times change and folks age

[EDIT] :

It's this part of Niall's post that perked up my
"between-the-lines" radar......

"This is a classic bass that has toured around the
world with me in my tenure in Hawkwind and has been
my ‘go to’ recording bass for all the Hawkwind related
releases I have been involved with (and a host of other

maybe it's just the way the phrase "...tenure in Hawkwind... "
is nested in verbage articulating past-tense that rings of
change, reminding me of Dead Fred's departure message
in which he put his tour rig up for sale.

I certainly hope Niall will be
remaining with the Mothership.

...just that since Haz joined we've
already witnessed the departures of
two other prominent members.

this is one of those times that I
hope my conjecture is 100% unqualified.
