I have just got hold of my first Wierd Tapes CD. On the inlay card is an offer of collecting tokens and sending off for a free CD only available through this offer. Has anyone got this CD? What is it? Is it worth having? etc etc.
Mind you, as the CD was released in 2000 it may not be available now anyway..

hi Witchwood.
Well i had exactly the same thought. Just moved and sorting out me stuff found a few of the CD's and realised about this free offer. i remember it but never quite had enough tokens. I do not know of anyone with this. Would be very interested to find out what the tracks were even if it is not available. lets try to keep this to the top of the forum and maybe someone will get in touch.
Cheers
RR.

I have had a reply from Voice print today after asking them what it was all about. It was quite short just saying hat the offer has now expired. I had asked what the cd was but they never answered that. I guess it was just an office clerk answering.
At least if it is the Spacebrock album I can still get that.

Yes it was an alternative version of "Spacebrock" with the tracks running in a different order and one new track "The Damage of Life" which doesn't appear on the standard album

I got mine a while back and it is indeed a 'different' version of Spacebrock...but it gets much , much better than that. It is the Original pressing.
There is a also a message on the inside of the cover from a Dr Brainstorm explaining a little more about the cd.... and it reads......

"Way back in the mists of time. Well, the year 2000AD actually. Hawkwind, the legendary space rockers reformed in their original line up to perform a one off concert at the Brixton Academy. This night was certainly a night to remember.
However, at Hawk Records dark forces were at play with the master tapes of the newly pressed CD 'Space Brock'. For reasons which have never been (and never will be) fully explained, the master of Space Brock was substituted for the wrong one.
Only 32 discs were sold at Brixton before Captain Brock said "STOP". The true extent of these forces was then revealed. Quickly withdrawn (with the excpetion of teh erevocable 32) this pressing was now one of the hottest sought after rarities in the Hawkwind history!
So, dear loyal Hawkwind fan, in order to repay your devotion and loyalty in buying a selection of releases from the Hawk Records catalogue, we would like to give you a copy of the ill fated Space Brock."

So there you have it...much more than just an 'alternative copy' i think you'll agree.

That was quite a nice surprise when it turned up in the post....

I should add that i wasn't even sure if the offer was closed or not when i sent my tokens in to Hawk records.... I kinda thought it must have been finished long ago...
If you have all the tokens ....all it is going to cost you is a Stamped Adressed envelope and you might be in for a surprise if they are feeling generous at Hawk records....what have you got to lose? More importantly....think what you could gain!!!

I never sent the tokens, I'm not going to cut up my CD cards. I just sent them photocopies of the tokens, which they accepted. I think it was just a way to get rid of the 'mispressed' Spacebrock, but nevertheless a nice gesture.
