I recently noticed on Discogs that ASAM gets a seperate listing for a 'misprint' release with the sleeve opening the 'wrong' end.....
Is this a genuine listing or a misunderstood one? The copy I used to have, and the copy I now have were both like this.....

Hey

We have discussed this here before actually-
That listing is correct. The story as i recall it is something like "Brock saw it and said stop".
My experience is there is actually plenty to be had of both pressings.
The one you (and myself) have is unique. No other countries pressed it in reverse like this, and if you have an (outer) sleeve like mine you can just flip it around anyway and I kind of like the little printing credits on the proper front cover :)

Sooo? 'Reverse' sleeve is 1st press? Or ASAM on front is 1st?
Didn't see the previous thread, how far back do I need to look?

Hi again-
Now that I hit 50, my memory is not as sharp as it used to be.
My recall is the reverse sleeve is 1st press and it was a supposed mistake by Charisma.
When Brock spotted it he had it corrected to the ASAM (lady) on front.
My guess about it is that the company likely got confused thinking the band title should be on front, while the band had maybe intended to be the "mysterious source of the science fiction sound track" (until you saw the back cover) :)
JUST my own imagination about it.
I think the subject was likely discussed here by the member Jamun, when he was more active.
I will see if I can find. I am not great at searching here though

edit: It is mentioned in this thread (link below) and will now see if Jamun's own freeforum site is still active where he displays his copy, I guess:

Cheers Mike. I prefer the 'reverse' as the front. It's more 'Hawkwind' than the 'correct' looking one :)

hi there - If you want a copy with the 'spinning Jenny' on the front; Then you need a Canadian one !
whilst on the subject - Any Canadian fans know why there is a small number 7 printed on the spines of the GRT (charisma) albums.

I haven't looked at my vinyl copies yet.
I'd guess that Astounding Sounds is the seventh Hawkwind studio album.

Don't think that's the case as it's on the Canadian copy of QS&C also
