At the risk of sounding like a loony, how's about a Hawkwind karaoke at the next Hawkfest? I really believe a lot of folks would find that fun, being able to sing, on stage, the lyrics to a Hawkwind track where the proper vocals have been removed. Especially if it was played quite loud.
I daresay Dave and co would want to cringe in their tents at a safe distance if a bunch of drunks were muddling their way through 'Paradox' or 'Arrival in Utopia' but I can't help thinking it would be fun for those participating... and possibly for those listening, too??
Anyway, it would be participative, and it would be Hawkwind-related, so that pushes a couple of success buttons, I guess.
Personally, I'd like to have a pop at 'Lord of Light.'

I was in a pub once when somebody did Silver Machine on the karaoke and absolutely murdered it. I'd rather not hear the songs I love being mangled by someone, drunk, stoned or sober!
Just a general comment, I cannot stand karaoke

Slightly off topic - any of NT's solo or other albums worth buying? I've been enjoying the new-ish Space Ritual album, didn't much like his stuff on Zones. The one recorded at the pyramids is meant to be okay. Ta.

I think it's a great idea, actually. In fact what comes to mind for me is `Arthur Brown freestyle karaoke' where you forget the words and make up something else that more or less fits.
(Don't worry Arthur. We love you really. I wouldn't have Out Of The Shadows any other way.)
The scope for fun inventiveness is tremendous. It'd be great to see what people might come up with. In fact a CD of tracks like `Whatsit Accumulator' and `Silver Um Thingy' would be worth having.
`You're very small from way out here.
And I'm feeling rather queer.
Now our sense is all disgusted -
um, we're going to drown your world in custard.
You're on your own now....'
Maybe it's just me, but it sounds like fun.

It can fly out the window, onwards to Alpha Centauri, and never come back!

Lighten up folks. This could be a scream. It would only be crap if singers took themselves seriously. I think I saw enough characters at HF 08 to come to the conculsion that we could have a lot of fun with this.
Instant crooner - just add alcohol. It would be great. I seem to recall a couple of fine fillies who I am sure could be convinced to do the dancing.
Fantastic .......... I'm off to my bedroom to practice in front of the mirror with a hairbrush. If it's not included officially we can do it in my tent!!!

That'd be nice and simple for the hypothetical drunks I mentioned at the top of this thread!
Probably Paradox would be a step too far for anyone who's had more than 10 lagers, but should do that / shouldn't do that is definitely do-able. And ya get no air / yer getting nowhere could be crooned in a very sensitive manner by someone who's well-oiled
