Moodyarse, no mate, that wasn't me, I had gone back to my tent to chill after six pints over lunch and heard the great set because we were just 20 or so yards from the side of the time stage..
Thanks... Bruise....
And I forgot to mention TOSH, Syren and of course, Tim Blake, absolutely memorable being joined on stage by the captain to do hurry on sundown...
Still so much to remember....

I think we all admire optimism, but I'm not sure mine was very impressive. I was dropped off at the site by a friend, and for some strange reason I fancied 24 cans of lager would suffice for 3 days.
The day passed with a mixture of chatting to others in my 'hood, listening to the Hawkwind that was being played by various people, and consuming what turned out to be 70% of my beer supply.
I really enjoyed Tribe of Cro but then I fell asleep at 8pm and woke up to find I was gazing up at the constellation of Cassiopeia (the 'W' one) and I realised immediately that I'd missed Huw, and Tim! So I hope I see a few more bits of info on what they did.
Still, I enjoyed the monged-out nature of the day... I was just settling in, really.
Oh, and it's now tipping down with rain, here in North Devon.

Greetings fellow revellers!
Got to agree with all the positives about the site, weather and atmosphere. I got there Saturday in time to take my medication and see the fabulous Starfighters, awesome renditions of The Right Stuff and Aerospaceage Inferno. Their "Ground control to pilot" was hilariously good and Orgone Accumulator as an encore compared well with the real thing.
Was right at the front for HW and once they got going it sounded incredible, Mr Dibbs has come on a lot from last year (from good to great) and drove the whole thing along, I think I remember - Upside down, or was it time we left? Spirit of the age and a mind blowing Damnation Alley, Who's gonna win the war and Golden Void and Flying Doc, the rest is a happy blur. Took it easy sunday until a voice tempted me to visit the Time stage to see Bruise, well worth the effort. Really rated TOSH, I think there must have been 7-8 of them for Brainstorm and it could have been 1972. I'd have paid £60 just to hear Valium 10 so thanks to all involved.
Next year? Lets hope so......

Since it hasnt been mentioned yet i witnessed one of the most exciting bands this weekend which made my first hawkfest experience unforgetable one. Uncle Rotter blew me away and i must admit i was curious about these guys as everybody was talking about them on the forums and people i met on site. So i went to watch them to find out what all the fuss was about. The Otter Bar tent was packed full of people curious just like i was. My god these guys where the business and they know how rock and play good tunes. All i've been doing today since i got up was sing DONT SMOKE CRACK! & FIT GOTH CHICKS ON THE END OF MY DICK!. All so they where a nice bunch of lads. i will defo see these guys again and i am in the process of purchasing a t-shirt off their myspace at the moe.
Tits of death were cool to but they where short of a drummer and it was intresting to see 2 bass plays in the band too! MY IRON NIPS ARE SO HARD was a class song
And Finally Hawkwind where excellent i really enjoyed seeing them on one of their best performance yet keep going lads and i cant wait to see them again next year.
BTW, What was all that Silent Disco Stuff about ?

I asked one of the bar staff about that, and apparently it's a sort of wireless headphones thing... you pay a £10 deposit and then hop around listening to music. And if you wanna talk to someone, you just whip the headphones off and there you are, in a quiet room. Er, tent.
I heard a band singing "Don't smoke Crack" but I didn't realise who they were, so thanks for that info.

Had a brilliant time and successfully indoctrinated my best mate into the cult of the Hawklords... his mission is now to go out and find others to join our army in this, our growing quest for UTTER WORLD DOMINATION.... *ahem*
Right. Yes. Had a bit of a moment there.
Great bands, great atmosphere, lovely people, excellent weather (despite having to seek shade in mid-afternoon).
Arrived a bit later than expected and had a spot of bother with the tent, so ended up listening to most of Saturation Point and Nanobots' sets while setting up camp. Caught Huw and Tim's sets on the main stage and was suitably enraptured, finished the night watching the always entertaining Tarantism.
Saturday was the highlight for me. Hawkwind's performance was one of the best I've seen in the last few years (an effect perhaps aided by and certainly compatible with my state of mind at the time). Other bands that really stood out were Danse of the Dead (I'm a bit of a gothic punk at heart), who performed a great set despite being down a member, Tits of Death (my kind of noisy attitude, although I can see how they might not appeal to everyone), Syren, and the barnstorming antics of 3 Daft Monkeys. I danced like a UV-decorated, glo-stick wielding idiot, had a brilliant time of it, and ended the night staring up at the stars.
Sunday was a relaxing wind-down for me, stopping in to watch bands, wandering around chatting to people, and generally chilling out. Caught TOSH's performance (w00t! they played 'Who's Gonna Win The War'!!!). Although initially sceptical, I was impressed by Uncle Rotter. By that point in the evening I was shattered, so listened to Underground Zero from my tent - hope they can be persuaded to return next year so I can see them properly.
*wonders if there's a thread dedicated to catching up with people encountered at Hawkfest*

Dave was onstage for Huw's set as well for Hurry,Waiting, Moonglum, & Rocky Paths, he was onstage for quite a bit of the TOSH set as well and did Needle Gun and a couple of others he sat at the back of stage for a few as well, the version of Brainstorm was great, one of the best Ive heard from any Hawkwind line up including SRitual.

Firstly Hi Festichick and Cold war Kid. Got back last night as we ended up on the coast and stopping a load of times on the way home trying to put off the enevitable.
Highlights being for me of the HW set Right to decide and Whos gonna win the war.. the lighting was great and loved the small cartoon sequence at the end by i presume Martin at Krell excellent more of that. (pity no Huw)
Site great and easy to get round so you could leave it to the last min to get to see a band or chill out at ya tent and have a listen there to. Most friendly Hawkfest so far and i think alot of us being regular are getting to know a few more faces. Talking of being regular .... the toilets were ok apart from a couple of blips. Especially them being cleaned out during the HW set which caused a bit of a stink....Ha Ha. The cafes were of a great standard with loads of choice and the bars had a good choice also. £2.50 for me ale was not bad.
Funniest thing of the weekend was the Q and A and special guests like Badger. I know the chap with stage fright who has apologised for not getting his words out right didnt mean to say what he did but i thought it was better than anything a stand up comic could do. Cheers for that. best laugh of the weekend. Anyway its a valid question.
The TOSSH set was superb and well performed. 3 daft Monkeys were one of the bands i enjoyed and Flutatious done a nice afternoon set which was chilled enough for the time of day and energetic enough if ya were that way inclined. Lots of good entertainment to numerous to mention here.
Bad point i suppose was the Farmers problem with the water? What happened there and didnt he crop dust the field next to us? Apart from that no probs really so Ta to everyone involved for a great success. I will like to mention mel from Tarantism who i raised my glass to but never got a chance to thank her properly as there was a band playing. Great job! As well as doing that went on to play a blinder with the band last thing. Great gig cheers Mel.
Oh well this is all a bit mixed up as im still sitting in the field mentally. Sure theres more to add later.

Absolutely superb festival! Highlights for me apart from the obvious Hawkind, TOSH, Tim Blake and Huwie were Danse of the Dead (I've seen them a few times now and always enjoy them), 3 Daft Monkeys (who played a blinding set), the Jazz band who played before TOSH (didn't catch their name nut they were superb and laugh out loud funny). There were a lot of bands who I heard from outside the tents and enjoyed without ever knowing who they were. A big thank you to Kris, Margaret, Dave and everyone else who took part in organising it and I'm really looking forward to next year!
How do you post pics? I'm new to this forum malarky and I can't get pictures to appear!

Site - a great find indeed. A good size but isolated, surrounded by trees, with a slight curve so that rain'd soon run away. Flat enough to lay out on in comfort.
Weather - hot. Properly hot.
Loos - a few minor hiccups but pretty good.
Food - plenty of choice, for both veggies and carnies.
Bars - some choice of brews (cold!), didn't run out (except for the Hawkfest ale, which I didn't even see). Prices weren't bad.
Stalls - enough stuff to allow you to wander around aimlessly browsing, but not enough to make you spend too many £'s.
Stages - both ran seamlessly & on time
The lights - I think Chaos & Floroworld did a magnificent job and should be singled out for particular praise. The lasers were a big talking point.
Bands - pretty much the same as the rest of the forum says. The usuals and favourites (HW, TOSH, Omnia Opera, Tribe of Cro etc.) were as good as usual (which is very good, 'natch). Of the ones that haven't done Hawkfest before, Spirits of the Earth, 25 Men & old Hawk favsUnderground Zero stood out - although I didn't see a bad band all weekend.
The audience - peaceful & friendly. A remarkably civilised bunch of people, don'tchya know. Plenty of old aquaintances, many new. Not crowded at all (no bigger please!).
Again, a big pat on the back to the whole Hawkfest team. We fans really appreciate the efforts that make the 'fests such a relaxing but stimulating time.
