but when Pogle was doing the stuff around 1993 I liked to get towards the back or upstairs if there was an upstairs in the venue.

Shocked I've only ever watched two shows from upstairs in a venue, Wishbone Ash and Blue Oyster Cult, and they were both terrible.........i swore i'd never do it again. (of course, it could have just been the bands. Laughing )

Being up close to lamps.......... was it my imagination or did Nik Turner pick up a strobe light and wave it in the faces of the front rows? This would have been right at the end of the Night of the Hawks vid.

Not sure if it was the effects on the vid but it looked like a strobe and turner was waggling it about a foot from people's eyes. Maybe I'm mistaken and it wasn't a strobe but it looked like one!!!

If I just want to enjoy the concert then near to the mixing desk is the best. Avoiding the giants that are strategically placed to bugger up the view for as many people as possible.
If I want to get photo's then I try to get as close as possible so I can use a smaller lens which will have a greater aperture. Allowing more flexibility in unpredictable light levels.
