I got the electronic copy of the magazine, it's the one with Roger Dean's Yes artwork on the cover. Interesting article on Tim, to some extent it is the usual Tim interview material, but with a bit less venom directed towards the now deceased Daevid Allen.

The interesting part is his comments on leaving Hawkwind, or as he puts it, playing with Hawkwind less. This he says is down to the Brexit vote making it harder for him to perform/work in the UK. Interesting given Dave came out in recent interviews as being pro-Brexit.

To paraphrase The Donald, Sad.

Oh, and by the way, in the same article there is a gig review of the Roundhouse gig, which is mostly complementary, saying that while it wasn't the best Hawkwind gig they'd been to, that the standard is now so high, there's aren't really any bad gigs these days - I think they were lamenting the shortened acoustic set. Another interesting point was the comment that it was believed Dave had considered packing it in before the recent rejuvenation.

Sad, indeed, but a small footnote to the total madness that's infecting Europe, of which Brexit is itself only one aspect.

Tim worries about losing his home and livelihood because of Brexit. I very nearly lost my home and livelihood because of the EU, and the situation is still pretty dire. Fortunately that word `nearly' makes all the difference. I think Tim will pretty certainly survive this. There may be some issues with travel because of Brexit, but plenty of musicians played both Britain and Europe before Britain joined the EU, so I can't see that being a major issue. The massively increased dangers of traveling due to terrorism and the migrant crisis strike me as much more significant. I certainly wouldn't want to load valuable instruments into a van and run the gauntlet of the mob that killed a man at Calais the other week, and I'd be concerned if Tim felt he had to take that risk.

There's a lot of hysteria about Brexit, virtually all of it coming from the Remain side of things, and there's a continued effort to keep wounds open and festering. As someone aptly put it with regard to the BBC (one of the major culprits, due no doubt to the massive cash influx they get from the EU), any wound that was there could be healing if the BBC didn't keep poking at it with a dirty stick.

The bottom line is that if the EU had continued as it was and hadn't started playing power games with its superstate nonsense, we wouldn't be in this mess. Hardly anyone in Britain would have voted to leave. We were left with no choice.

I can't see Tim getting anywhere with the British government if he has to leave France, for the simple reason that May presented the EU with a generous offer to safeguard British people in Europe and EU citizens here, and the EU rejected it out of hand. That could well have been after Tim did the magazine interview, but the situation remains.

I can't see Tim losing his French residency. If he has to concentrate on playing gigs in France then that'll be Britain's loss, but France's gain. And considering the state of travel between Britain and France as mentioned above, it would probably be the best thing.

i wish Tim well with that for sure and hadn't realised the weight of that - crikey - so unfair - i would disagree with your comment on may and her 'generosity' - cheap foreign labour is the same as here - and a thatcherite to boot would say

Indeed, Brown Dawn ~I too wish Tim well; miss his unique contributions as crewman aboard the Mothership...fortunately we still have his own contributions to the world of music.

@ Sweep - good to see you back again, mate ~ always enjoy your thoughtful commentary : )

My best to all
Much love !

Yes, the legacy lives on. Brexit is only going to be of benefit if the real problem is dealt with - Neoliberalism. The ideology that Thatcher and almost all mainstream political parties since subscribe to. Privatised profits, socialised losses...

Back on topic, I could only read the preview of the interview as I'm not a subscriber (maybe I should because there's a lot of interest there). I like that he's feeding chickens... something about space rock and livestock seem to gel, thinking of Barkalot farm...
