And time for a new Hawkwind Tour.
Now as The Astoria has shut and the mighty Hawks will be playing at the Shepherds Bush Empire I have a question. Where are you getting tickets for? Whereas in The Astoria you could walk up and downstairs, you can't at the Empire. You either have a ticket for downstair in the stalls standing or an unreserved seat upstairs.
Now previously I always used to watch the band as close to the front as possible and have often stood a couple of feet away from the band. Now I prefer to be a bit further away as you get the full effect of the light show, at The Astoria if it was a bit crowded downstairs (as it was the last two occasions I went) I popped upstairs. For The Empire I have to make a choice and downstairs at the Empire seems to be half the size of The Astoria when I saw PWEI, The Wonder Stuff and Killing Joke you literally had your arms pinned to your sides even worse than the Astoria that was.
I don't fancy being Billy No Mates upstairs if you lot are all downstairs!

I'll be at The brook in Southampton. Nice and cosy mind but whereever you stand you get a good view. Except from behind the pillar. That can be a bit obstructive.

I've got my Falmouth ticket. I'll probably settle for just the one show, unless they add Exeter. But that strikes me as very unlikely.
Funny thing: last week I dug my Porchester tickets out, to check they were all present and correct, and there were three seetickets, not two. One was for Falmouth, and I don't remember buying it! Oh, well.

Please don't go for the leather sofa in the corner, upstairs at the brook. I have mentally booked that! Only issue is that I can get too confortable and have to force myself to stand to watch hawkwind.
For those who haven't been to the brook - its a fantastic small venue, great staff including security, sensible bar prices and you get real close to the band.
The dancers have a few problems with the low ceiling though.
See you there - I'll be the old git in a hawkwind t-shirt!

Alas the date for The Brook is on my (non Hawkwind fan) wife's birthday, so I won't be going to that one.

Well you get a seat but you don't use it. I saw PWEI reformation tour upstairs (my mate bought the wrong tickets) and there is more room to move around than there is downstairs in the stalls. One of the things I liked about Porchester, as I mentioned to Jimski I think, was although it was sold out you had plenty of room to move about which made a pleasant change.

I will definately be at 'the bush' and bringing a couple of friends.
Alan-your booking is confirmed. Suggest a train to Watford and I will pick you up from there.
