Hello chaps! (and chappesses?)
It's taken over a month to get this account activated but I'm here at last!
I've been following the forum for a while for HW news but I thought it was about time I said hello.
I'm a musician (guitarist) from London, I've been listening to Hawkwind since 1977, seen them innumerable times (less so in more recent years). Hawkwind are the reason I'm a musician and, more specifically, Dave Brock is the reason I picked up a guitar.
How it all began.....
As a kid I was never interested in music as all I had ever been exposed to was the 70s pop charts - I still absolutely no interest in what passes for mainstream 'music'. Then, one day, my dad bought a copy of Quark, Strangeness and Charm. Now, my dad was never very interested in music. Indeed, the only other LP he ever bought was by Kenny Rogers! He claimed he'd heard QSC on the car radio and had liked it's 'stereoness'. In truth, I think he ended up a bit embarrassed about what he'd bought.
I soon nicked that LP (still got it) - I was into Moorcock's books and discovered the connection with HW and many, many more Hawkwind albums followed.
It still seems like some strange magical act of fate to bring me and Hawkwind together, so 'thank you, Dad'.
