King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard played Glastonbury this weekend. Their sets tend to ramble and include mash-ups of tunes. Look what popped up at 31:30...

(Their latest album is called Murder f the Universe, BTW)

At least there was a snippet of the real spirit of Glastonbury - quality ! What I'd give to see them perform there - but I know it'll sadly never happen .............

Indeedy ;0)
Had never heard of them before & totally loved the psychedelic sounds & lights. Excellent filming to.
Hoping to get to see them live somewhere, sometime.
Big thanks to Jimski for the heads up !

Cracking Australian band. Ran into their stuff last summer and like it. My personal fav is "I'm in your mind fuzz" but, interestingly, they brought out "Flying Microtonal Banana", which features microtonal tuning (i.e. more than 12 notes in an octave!)

I've got "I'm In Your Mind Fuzz" as well, it's a cracking album. Haven't heard it for a while, but I seem to recall most of the tracks seem to blend together, without the drummer even missing a beat. Pretty relentless. I keep meaning to give some more of their stuff a listen. Nice to hear them doing Master, I guess it's not at all surprising they like Hawkwind.

Maybe that's for the best, seeing what Glastonbury has become these days. The whole Indie/Alternative vibe all but gone in favour of the likes of Katy Perry, Dizzee Rascal and Kanye West!
The Hawks would most likely get offered the Sunday afternoon 'ironic oldie' slot on the bill, playing in broad daylight to countless Jeremys, Jocastas and all their irritating hipster mates from Uni at £300+ a ticket!

How about a free gig outside the gates of Glastonbury in an inflatable tent? That would stir up some nostalgia!

Listening to Flying Microtonal Banana at this time and seriously think that Open Water is one of the best things I have heard.

If I had the funds to do it I'd love to set up an old school fest for old school music fans. I even have a location in mind.

Hi Kris

Hawkwind (of course), Ozrics, Here & Now, Levellers, Arthur Brown for starters! What else do my fellow posters want?

I'd love the chance to see Causa Sui live if they could be enticed over from Denmark.
