Looks like Hawkwind are on the cover disc of the latest Mojo, not sure if it's anything unreleased, they've got form covering Pink Floyd of course over the years.

Looks like Dave features in some way inside the mag too...

Great Dave Brock interview. Many of the usual questions but the Captain does let slip a bit of a gem:

When asked about Hawklords' 25 Years and Astounding Sounds albums he says they've just signed over an unreleased Hawkwind album from this era to Cherry Red. Wonder what this could be?

'Lost In Science' features on the mag's CD.

Tim's 'New Jerusalem' gets a mini review elsewhere in the mag. A good issue!

Wasn't there a shelved album that eventually got recycled (or parts of did) into PXR5?

The Captain says it was recorded at Rockfield in 77.
'The beginning of the Hawklords stuff......' but previously unreleased.

A whole album though........ from my favourite, the Quark/PXR5, era, featuring Simon House and, quote, 'Calvert was on form'!

Bring it on!

Sounds VERY interesting. I love that rough 'Shot Down in the Night' rehearsal recording from Rockfield that Steve Swindells has on his SoundCloud page.

[edit] Ah, that was 1979 ...

:D After the excitement of the news of the Rockfield '77 unreleased album I wonder if Hawkwind HQ or Cherry Red can elaborate on the details?

In the meantime just playing the MOJO CD which features Hawkwind, Gong and Public Service Broadcasting.

A really nice listen, - the new Gong track is interesting too.

Worth a purchase this issue! :D

That's really interesting news about the album. Will have to keep an eye on developments there. Have ordered the "Lenticular Edition" of the magazine which is only available to order on -line (where the pig is seen flying across the cover). The regular edition is available in shops now with no flying pig - ahem ! until recreational substances intervene.

Hi guys

I am probably late jumping on this particular fact, but as a newcomer to the band known as Public Service Broadcasting I, as a result of hearing their track 'The Other Side' prefacing Hawkwind on this Mojo CD, had a listen to their 'Race For Space' CD. I am sure that these boys have listened to lots of Hawkwind in their youth, lots of classic NASA samples and gorgeous synth loops and bleeps. Things like 'Uncle Sam' and 'The Assassination' and the 'Levitation' album must be big influences for this band.
I heartily recommend 'Race For Space' CD if you haven't already heard it. Very tasty.

Cheers
Quarky

I finally managed to pick up a copy of Mojo in WH Smith today, just about to read it ... in the bath! Can't do that with an iPad.

Oh, hang on .... http://hawkwindforum.freeforums.org/post128599.html#p128599

I learnt a fair bit about Mr Brock's lifestyle choices by reading that article. Enjoyable & revealing that's for sure.
