hi there

in all fairness this was "leaked" a bit earlier than planned, it was the intention that it would be announced on the web site first, but as they say best laid plans.....

obviously most gigs advertised on reputable sites do go ahead and as i said earlier it's your money to do with as you please, my point was that the web site and myspace are the definative places for confirmed gigs.

regardless it's good to see such a positive reaction to the gig and look forward to seeing you all there in august!!

regards

dave
bloomin' 'eck, i nearly had heart failure there, i had a horrible vision that those booked already wouldn't be valid

Booked mine! Didn't think the card would take it, but it did. Just.

Now all I have to do is leave my usual August Bank Holiday festival, Infest in Braford, electronic, noise & industrial so no Hawkwind influence there ...on it's second day - the Saturday, get a train to London going against the Leeds Festival Hordes in Leeds, plough through the middle of Carnival, find my way back to the hotel after the gig (once again with Carnival going on), and then return to Infest for the final day on the Sunday and post infest pub stuff on the Monday.

Doddle! Especially as the Friday is my birthday - no hangovers here then, I'll just have to keep drinking.

Royal Oak, on the Hammersmith & City (pink) line. Just west of Paddington.

There's a handy map here:

Got mine this morning! Hadn't realised it'll be carnival weekend. Haven't decided if this is a good or a bad thing, it's probably both. I like earth shattering bass from Dub Reggae sound systems, but dislike being unable to get down streets, riots etc.

If I recall correctly, they make some tube stations in the area one way and such during carnival weekend, so I'd double check on TLF's website when working out the best way to get there.
Incidentally, I just looked it up and 109 tube journeys are quicker by foot!

GREAT. Finally booked, after failing to find it on the net [maybe I just can"t work this right], Eventually rang up instead. Need to find some digs now, Oh and just don"t know what to wear??? A very faded hawks t-shirt from 1846 just isn"t good enough for this.

Riots?? No, not quite what I'm looking for, I must admit! Do they happen often, at the carnival?

Cheers! Judging by the venue website (banging on about oak panelling, etc) I suspect they don't serve snakebite :)

The t-shirts from the George V Jubilee celebrations tour are pretty nifty, I've been told :D

What about a whole bunch of us booking in the same hotel... preferably one with a late bar! My target room cost is under £50, ideally.

Unless I am mistaken I thought the Carnival was on the Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, not the Saturday. :?

I recommend those who are searching for a cheap hotel during the 40 th anniversary gig to have a look at Venere.com.
http://en.venere.com/hotels_london/?ref ... val=1&sb=0

I've allready booked 4 nights at Hotel Mina House just a short walk from Paddington. £ 68 pr night, incl. English breakfast and free wireless internet, but there are cheaper hotels down to £42 per night in Notting Hill gate.

It's the whole weekend, Friday onwards its party central according to my other half who goes frequently. Saturday is Steel Band day I'm told.
