Brilliant! Just an awesome NEW release that I can't put down or get out of the player!! I was under the impression there was more to this show (I do miss Free Fall and Robot), but who the hell am I to complain. These releases on Atomhenge are just top shelf all the way, and I'm not just talking about the extra stuff and the new stuff and the art, but the remastering of the original albums is really quite perfect. The remasters are not limited to the wall producing bricked wavs. Expert job. The clarity of these releases blows me away - especially Hawklords Live and especially in noise canceling headphones.
Oh, and THANK GOD...FINALLY a live version of the Psi Power!
In reading the liner notes, Mark mentions a pro video was shot of this same show by Charisma Records and then shelved - any chance this will be unarchived and released as the most killer Hawklords Live DVD?
Hey, I can hope can't I?

On first listen, in the house with wife mumbling about neighbours, I didn't relly enjoy it; however, on second listen, on my own, in the car, very loud it is quite excellent!

The first time I saw Hawkwind/Hawklords was on this tour so I could not wait to get this one!
Bloody hell its good!
Well done Atomhenge (AGAIN!).
Special mention also to the late great Bob Calvert!
Hope DB includes a track or two from this era at Porchester.

iI like it, but contrary to the publicity it ain't the full set, unless this was a truncated gig. It's only 60 mins, after all, and I have a distinct recollection (honest!) of them playing Uncle Sam, Robot and Steppenwolf in addition to what's on the CD when they played Cardiff on the same tour.
Still, no grumbles, the quality is excellent (same goes for Love in Space).

Isn't this just a remaster of HAWKLORDS LIVE which I have on a Griffin Hawkdisc?

RE: Hawklords Live '78-reissue-the reissue does not have "Over the Top" with Bob Calvert over the top with his poetic treatments to it-so the re-issue can't be the complete set. For me the Weird # 4 Hawklords is a good performance-sound recording quality forgiven.

Hi
Received my copy today and WOW what an incredible CD. The power and energy in the music is nothing short of phenominal and is an incredible live performance. It certainly is not a re-release of anything else as I have not heard any of these versions before. I have never been a real fan of urban guerrilla but the power of this live version takes my breath away and the second part of sonic attack is awesome. I just wish that I had been at the concert.
Well done to Atomhenge for bringing out quality releases such as this.

Except...what happened to the rest of the gig...and the film? They did shoot a concert film too, correct?

It seems there is a huge amount of digging that can be done surrounding this tour, if anyone feels up to the task. From what I've read on various blogs, the film does exist in private collections. It has been shown occasionally at exhibitions of some of the conceptual artists involved in the tour. If anyone out there is going to the Barney Bubbles memorial event, that would be a good place to ask questions. Hawkwars be damned...
My best guess is that if this, or any of the other 'lost' 70's Hawkwind video is ever going to be released, it will be though EMI. I don't think anyone else can make it happen.
Apparently the design and concept was inspired by "Delirious New York" by Rem Koolhaas. I'd be interested to know if any Hawkwind fans have read this book.
