So what is the situation regarding a Hawkfest this year? Please can the Mothership put out some info as myself and probably a lot of other salivating Hawkheads are getting impatient.

Could someone say something....please?

Like a few others, plans need to be made and holidays booked and as time drags on it's getting harder and harder to make necessary arrangements.

Good or bad or just a 'hello'...but lets us know the state of affairs as it stands please......

@ Spiritsoftheearth : what 'new' laws? Did i miss something?

As long as it's not the last weekend in July. Anything but that, please?

There's a whole bunch of people who have planned all year, fought the police, arranged the bands and announced dates as early as possible so as to give people as much notice as possible to see the same bands who have done the previous half-dozen Hawkfests, as well as largely the same audience. We're largely all friends.

If anything can be done can that weekend be avoided? Please? It would be splitting the natural audience in two.

If you insist :D

What's all this about vans older than 03 being banned from London??

I know the current gov't is pretty dumb and erratic, but they're not hell-bent on political suicide, are they?

Not the government this time, but Boris. Most vans (and campers) pre-2003 aren't exactly banned, but under the extension of the London low emissions zone to cover Greater London, unless they've been fitted with a few grand's worth of emmision control technology (which may or may not work...) they'll be hit for at least £100 every day (or part day) they're in London, no matter why they're there or how few miles they do. A couple of miles will be enough.

And pay up fast because the penalties are really eye-watering.

It's to reduce the amount of air pollution in London which kills people and leads to things like asthma for others.

But I digress, when will we hear about Hawkfest 2012? The sooner the better as I will have to book holidays and ferries soon if it's on.

Aye, it a pain as we don't go into London at all in the van, we tend to go the other way as much as possible.

It does stink of supporting companies making new vans and selling them, as it's naturally the skint who will suffer, still no change there!

A Hawkfest update would be splendid.

:D

Cornwall...Devon..Somerset...It's all good....

So long as it's 'Down South'...my car can't take all that driving on cinder tracks beyond the Watford Gap....heh heh ....

Right about now i'd even travel to the other side of the planet to go to a Hawkfest........but don't quote me on that. ;)
