Wow and many thanks Sarah, what a totally fantastic set of photos.
As ever i m not getting enough time to keep up with everything on the forum and accordingly ll be doing my usual backposting but when i saw this set just had to fire a post back.
A natural optomist i m still hoping that no news is good news so to speak and that behind the scenes there is still things going on re some kind of Hawkfest this year.
I feel very lucky to have managed 3 out of the 4 Hawkfests and i m not normally a greedy person, (except where beer is concerned), yet when i sat down for 10 minutes and let that set slideshow through i just wanted more more more.
I ve been to plenty of fests pre Hawkfests and still do, generally managing a right royal time, yet there is simply NO festival, big or small, that i ve been to that comes close to the Hawkfests, and that set of photos just captures so much it.
The sheer variety of people there, of ages of dress, a real feeling of somewhere you can totally relax, be yourself (

), and feel totally safe is such a rare and pleasant experience in these somewhat pressured modern times.
Of course we ve a shared common interest in going so perhaps no surprise, yet it is always such an unadulterated pleasure to arrive, chill out and then start the weekend wander. Thats how it goes for me at least, i start the tramp, and for 3 days i m off, here and there, a beer a chat a dance an eat a whatever, and now new friends are old friends.
As i gather from other posts on the Hawkfests i know i m not alone in feeling that way, and thats where the greed comes in as i d love it again.
Of course i know we re super lucky as fans, and already this year i ve loved Bolton, and am looking forward to Liverpool and Porchester Hall yet for me, (and i know we all have personal preferences), Hawkwind in a big tent in a rural field in summer is where its at.
I ll urge anyone who either went last year or couldnt make it to take a look at the whole set and i guarantee you ll smile. As i mentioned those shots really capture the unfolding nature of the days and nights. The bands, the lights , the folks, Jason (fondly and warmly remembered and missed), even my feet make an appearance, on the tramp see. Fantastic!
As mentioned if theres any chance this year still, then count me in...hey even if its just 2 nights or even 1, as long as i can get my tent up and see the band in theirs then i m happy. Hope everyone at Bearded Theory and Beautiful Days has an absolute ball and they look like great fests just unfortunate for me theres no way i can make either, but thats not the real reason i d love a Hawkfest, that being that when its organised like it has been bythose who kind of know what we like then as i ve said it doesnt get any better.
Keeping it all crossed and if theres any way it can be done, simple or elaborate, ( and i must admit i loved last years laid back vibe with a few nice swanky touches, the cafe and the chilled bars etc) then please lets do it.
And many thanks again Sarah for sharing that awesome set,
Best regards,
Huw
