In the booklet to the recently rereleased 'Love In Space' Brian Tawn mentions that there are four great Hawkwind live albums which he lists as:
'Space Ritual'
'Live '79
'Live chronicles'
'Love In Space
Now I love all these but they would'nt be my top four, the top four live albums as far as I'm concerned are:
'Space Ritual' (okay that's a given and a no-brainer!)
'Live '79'
'Palace Springs' (perhaps to be superceded by the remastered 'California Brainstorm')
'Text Of The Festival' (a bit controversal I suppose given its poor sound and general bootleg nature but I love it)
I wonder what four live albums other members consider to be the best :?:

Best 4 for me would be

Space Ritual (of course!)
This is Hawkwind Do not Panic
At the BBC
Live Chronicles

Least favourite would be Knights of Space

My top 4 would be:
Space Ritual (what a surprise)
The Text Of Festival (I just love early HW)
The 1999 Party
BBC Radio 1 Live In Concert (that's because I can't afford At The BBC yet)
Of course I also love the later periods, but when it comes to favourites, I prefer the early years.
Least favourite also Knights Of Space (miss the spacey synth sound on that one and Richard should stick to singing instead of shouting).

Space Ritual
The 1999 Party
BBC 1972
Complete '79

I'm not a fan of Live Chronicles at all even though I enjoyed the gig in Glasgow at the time

That's cheating, mate, you're giving 7 titles instead of 4 and of which 4 are the same anyway.

Tricky one really this:

1. Space Ritual
2. 1999 Party
3. Live at the BBC
4. This is Hawkwind Do Not Panic/Live at Lewisham

Love in Space is pretty good though and it's also tempting to include some of the late 70s Calvert stuff.
