as far as I am concerned, I have replaced my MSN news homepage with google.com (just a preliminary selection) in my "Internet options" and also gone into the advanced settings and saved the change there as well

Yet, as before, I still get it in my face

Help?

I must conclude that humans are created cattle
I did a restart.

I did not have this with windows 7

has anyone else seen the things with this OS settings that are made to look like it is no big deal such as facial recognition and whatever else for "security" etc

Hmmm? If you've changed the homepage in internet options (you did press 'apply' once you'd typed in the new homepage, yes?) then I can only assume you have some kind of software that is changing it back somehow.

What browser are you using?

I REALLY hate the way the default setting puts it to sleep for me, and then I actually fall asleep with it on

BASTARDS

and then the screen senses whatever it senses to come on and off and also all the damn messages that come in interrupting me, all of this default

The internet seems to be a constant battle of wills. I couldn't use the internet without adblock software to keep the intrusion at bay.

By browser I mean are you using Internet Explorer, or Chrome, or Firefox or whatever?

I use Mozilla Firefox with Adblock Plus and NoScript add-ons to keep the evil at bay. :)

I don't like IE.

If you can face the task, I would advise installing Mozilla Firefox and using that. I can point you towards what you need to do if it helps (I'm no techie and I've managed it.

I did that before and it was not without it's probs

Seems like they are designed to not work perfect if you stray but I FULLY ADMIT being computer dummy and this is why I asked

are you using 10 now and switched, because I loved Moxilla when I had 7.
I guess if this does not solve easy I really must think about saving for or obtaining W7 (again) somewhere.

I am not into the way the tech goes nowdays (understatement, other than YouTube music which has got a clutch on my nutsack :) :) )

the plastic turds are not even real plastic anymore

My Win7 laptop died - we'll it's more UNdead as it sometimes starts up, sometimes doesn't - so I bought a new one with Win10 installed. I hated Win10 at first but managed to turn off nearly ALL the default options and tweak it so it looks and acts pretty much the same as my old Win7 machine. I had to switch off a LOT of 'default on' crap!!

Firefox works fine on this new machine.

I just changed it again to the setting that is supposed to open the last page you were viewing and tried a couple ways including restart, and while I totally realise this function likely CAN be performed my common sense thought is

"Boy they do NOT want that newsfeed getting away"

Please correct me without a second thought if I am totally wrong, anyone.

and the heck with it for now but I will follow any advice later should there be any

been using w10 since it gatecrashed in a couple years back.
would've stayed with 7, as I also run an old laptop which has good staying power.
For me everything went 'tits-down' once Apps gotten hold & that is my problem with using w10.
It's set up for apps see.
I get that msn BS also & occasionally get tempted to dip in.
Not so keen on going into settings. Have done on occasions and get into an awful tangle doing so. Leaving me only with a seething migraine & little to show for it.
Now I just accept it's all shite, unless you enjoy the thrill of the chase & I'm now too old for that.
Although sharing a birthdate with D Trump, may lead me onto making my first Twit in a few days time.

My most useful techno gadget around the place is one of these.
Thought I would show y'all as it's well into tennis season & the nightly killing spree is in full flow.
"Be seeing you "
