RIP Deke. A big Man fan and the Iceberg albums are pretty good too. Saw Man at the Torrington about 20 years ago but would love to have seen them supporting Hawkwind in the early 70's.

Bloody hell, that's a massive shame. I'd only in recent months become more interested in Man after giving their performance at the Greasy Truckers another listen and read some of Deke's hilarious writing. That'll be me with Man albums on rotation for the foreseeable future. Might even give some Iceberg a listen.

I've got a few discs of his radio series "It's Crazy Man". The liner notes sum it up:

In the words of Micky Jones "Deke fucking Leonard".

As he would say himself: Why do they always take the good ones?

This was really sad news especially as he was looking to get Iceberg back on the road. He made a great contribution to music, wrote some brilliant books & offered some much to what we listen to today, will be sadly missed.
It would also have been nice if Dave & the Hawkwind crew had given a mention to Deke a they toured together in the past?
